When an IT specialist and secret MI6 informant, Arthur Cole, is murdered at Broadmoor Hospital, his workplace, local authorities, and MI6 immediately launch an investigation. Senior MI6 operative Mason Montrose believes the Home Truth party, a far-right political movement he has been closely monitoring, is behind the murder.
Home Truth has been busy riling up the public and gaining political mileage, and Montrose believes their possible ascent to power would put the country in danger. He assigns Ankur, an MI6 operative, to go undercover as a patient at Broadmoor, to infiltrate Home Truth, reveal the killer, and help stop the movement. He also pairs him with Eva Kovalenko, an operative of Ukrainian descent seeking to avenge her deceased father. As the two embark on their assignment, they’re about to be entangled in a web of deception and murder. The deeper they dig, the more dangerous it becomes.
Will they survive the assignment? Find out in Hidden Killer by Henry Farley.
If you are looking for a political thriller intertwined with espionage, crime, mystery, a hint of the supernatural, suspense, and plot twists, Hidden Killer by Henry Farley is a worthy pick. Farley introduced me to the characters through a multi perspective storyline. The narration alternates between moments of reflection, tension, and bursts of action, from the private strategic meetings in London, Newbury, and other British locations, to the tense confrontations and close-quarter combat between MI6 operatives and Home Truth-affiliated Russian operatives. As I watched Ankur and Eva undertake their mission, I gained insight into the dynamics of British intelligence where action and compromise carry the same weight, and information is as important as survival. The character driven conversations allowed me to understand the characters’ personal struggles. Eva demonstrates the cost of war on family and individual lives, the limits to which vengeance can push one, and the danger operatives encounter in the field.
